PEOPLE

We are a Personal church.

• Galatians 6:2: Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
• 1 John 1:1-4: 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
• Romans 12:10-13: 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

• Hebrews 10:24-25: 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
• 1 Thessalonians 5:11:Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
• Hebrews 3:13: 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

• Ephesians 4:11-12: 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

• Matthew 7:7-11: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
• James 5:13-16  Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.  Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.  Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
• 2 Chronicles 7:14  If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

• Romans 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
• John 4:24  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

• John 14:15-21 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [b]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.  “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.  At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
• Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

• Matthew 20:25-28 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
• 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
• 1 Peter 4:5-11 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. • Mark 16:15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
• Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
• Acts 19:17-20 This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totaled fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.
• Acts 17:6 But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.

• Acts 9:31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
• Acts 2:45-47 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
• Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Our Foundational Truths consist of the 16 doctrines that are non-negotiable tenets of faith to which all of King’s Cathedral and Chapels adhere. We believe the words of 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

King’s Cathedral & Chapels 16 Foundational Truths are intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing, 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42). This does not cover all Biblical truth, only these foundational doctrines.

The Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21

The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.The scriptures declare:

• His virgin birth (Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:31,35)
• His sinless life (Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:22)
• His miracles (Acts 2:22, 10:38)
• His “substitutionary” work on the cross (I Corinthians 15:3, 2 Corinthians 5:21)
• His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28:6, Luke 24:39, I Cor. 15:4)
• His exaltation to the right hand of God (Acts 1:9,11, Acts 2:33, Philippians 2:9, Hebrews 1:3)

Man was created good and upright; for God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.” However, man, by voluntary transgression, fell and thereby ensured not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.

Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

Conditions of Salvation:

Baptism in Water:
The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded in the scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus, they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness in life.

Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4

Holy Communion
The Lord’s Supper, consisting of the elements, bread and the fruit of the vine, is the symbol expressing our sharing the diving nature of our Lord Jesus Christ; a memorial of His suffering and death; and is enjoyed by all believers “till He comes!”

2 Peter 1:4, 1 Corinthians 11:26

All believers are entitled to and should ardently accept and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service, the bestowing of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.

Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4-8, I Corinthians 12:13-31

This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. With the baptism in the Holy Ghost come such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a deepened reverence for God, and intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work, and a more active love for Christ, for His Word and for the lost.

The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterances. The speaking in tounges in this instance is the same, in essence, as the gift of tounges, but different in purpose and use.

Acts 2:4, 1 Corinthinas 12:4-10, 28

Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God (Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 13:12, I Thessalonians 5:23). The Scriptures teach a life of “holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14) By the power of the Holy Ghost we are able to obey the command: “Be ye holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16)

Sanctification is realized in the believer by recognizing his identification with Christ in His death and resurrection, and by faith reckoning daily upon the fact of that union, and by offering every faculty continually to be under the dominion of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 6:1-11, 13; 8:1-2, 13; 1 Peter 1:5, Galatians 2:20; Philippians 2:12-13)

One aspect of holiness is not doing what is evil. (Galatians 5:19-21, I Corinthians 6:9-11)

Another aspect of holiness is seeing all human life as sacred and created by God in His image. The ramification of this truth is lived out in the following ways at King’s Cathedral and Chapels.

Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage of condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect and value all human life. (Psalm 139)

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Genesis 1:26-27) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Genesis 2:18-25) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, beastiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; I Timothy 1:9-11)

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of King’s Cathedral & Chapels as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a Biblical role model to the King’s Cathedral & Chapels members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by King’s Cathedral & Chapels in any capacity, or who are formal members must hold to the Biblical standard of holiness.

The Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of “the general assembly and Church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven.”

Hebrews 12:23, Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:22

A divinely called and scriptural ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for a two-fold purpose:

• The evangelization of the world, and
• The edifying of the Body of Christ (Mark 16:15-20, Ephesians 4:1-13)

Divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers.

Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 3:16-17, James 5:14-16

The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Titus 2:13, Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52

The “second coming” of Christ includes the rapture of the saints to reign on the earth for one thousand years. (Zechariah 14:5, Matthew 24:27, 20, Revelation 1:7, 19:11-14, 20:1-6) This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel (Ezekiel 37:21-122, Zephaniah 3:19-20, Romans 11:26-27) and the establishment of universal peace (Isaiah 11:6-9, Psalm 72:3-8, Micah 4:3-4).

There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
